What should we pay attention to in the sewing of silk fabrics?
Preparing before sewing
(1) The choice of silk garment lining must be properly matched. Light and thin fabrics have transparency or translucency. Generally, the matching light and thin non-woven cat lining is chosen. No collars, sleeves and exposed edges should be trimmed. The width of the edge seam can only be 0.3 cm, or the edge can be replaced by rolling bar, but no lining can be used. In addition, the thickness, color and stiffness of the lining should be determined according to the specific fabric.
(2) Light and transparent fabrics with suede or luster should be cut with the suede side. The matching of silk garment lining is an important step in sewing silk garments.
(3) The lining sample should be slightly larger than the net sample, but the wool sample should be slightly smaller than the clothing piece.
(4) When matching the lining, the direction of the filament should also be considered. In principle, the direction of silk towers is basically the same as that of fabrics.
(5) When ironing lining, appropriate temperature and ironing time should be selected. The lining should be completely adhered to the fabric in order to prevent the appearance of foaming and de-lining in the future, and to prevent the fabric from being scalded and crisp.
Points for Attention in Sewing
It is not easy to push, pull and ironing thin silk fabrics in the sewing process. Not only that, but also silk fabrics are smooth, soft and easy to stretch and deform, so sewing is not easy to master. In the past, there were methods of sizing clothes before sewing or spraying wet fabrics with watering pots to prevent sliding and deformation. There are also special double-sided adhesives for sewing silk fabrics, which are bonded to two layers before sewing. Then, tear off the double-sided glue.
Clothing materials are rich and varied, and its ingenious and reasonable combination and collocation can show rich and complex artistic effects. According to the different appearance and texture of silk fabrics, a variety of costume design methods can be adopted. The style is either uniform, harmonious or sharp contrast, or the color is rich and full or simple and consistent. For example, the combination of silk fabrics with similar texture, woven fabrics with the same thickness and knitted fabrics can form a more harmonious and unified effect in texture and appearance; the reverse thinking method can also be used to break the visual habits and adopt alternative and asymmetric designs, for example, to combine materials of different styles, such as silk and leather, silk fabrics and coarse linen fabrics, snow. Textile fabrics and woolen fabrics, which contrast with each other, can break the balance and produce visual impact, bringing new aesthetic effects.
